You’ll encounter many strange strangers on your adventure in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and almost all of them have something they need you to track down. The same is true of the Deserter, a lonely soldier trapped behind a cave wall that he can’t get out of. When you find him, he’ll task you with tracking down his dead friend, as he holds something that could help free him.

We’ll show you where to start this quest, how to complete it, and what you get for doing so.

You can find the Deserter in Hyrcanian Forest, near where you first enter. A few screens in you’ll spot an orange flower a little above your head. Use a wall jump to reach it and strike it with your swords – or shoot it with your bow if you already have that – and a platform will appear beneath you. Use this to jump across the stone pillars all the way to the right and slide under the cave to talk to the Deserter and start the quest.

Your target is very close by. Head out to the next screen to the right until you reach a room where you start at the top of a slope. Slide down the slope and use the orange flower to spawn platforms and head left. There you’ll see the Deserter’s friend hanging from the ceiling.

Use your sword or bow to cut him down and he’ll drop the cannonball on the ground. Once you’ve picked it up you can return to the Deserter. He’ll thank you for helping free him, and he’ll give you a Soma Tree Petal – getting four of these increases your maximum health, so it’s worth doing this easy quest.
