The Engineer archetype is one of the most enjoyable in Remnant 2 as it relies on heavy weapons to be efficient. One of its default weapons in a flamethrower, which should tell you all you need to know about the attitude you should adopt when playing it. However, it’s also one of the trickiest to unlock.

Thankfully, unlike the Archon archetype, players have already found a way to unlock it, so you can combine it with some of the other archetypes like Summoner, Invader, or Alchemist to make an exceedingly powerful character.

Here’s how to unlock the Engineer class in Remnant 2.

The item you’re looking for is the Alien Device, but it’s very tricky to find. In the second major area of N’Erud, you’re going to have to do something stupid that will probably result in your death – run into the fog.

Somewhere in the fog surrounding the second area there is an alien corpse, on it will be a special armor set and the Alien Device item you need. This fog is deadly and will cause your character to play a puke animation repeatedly as you stand in it, so you’ve got to be quick.

That said, the trickiest part is actually finding the corpse in the first place, as it’s quite deep in the fog and hard to spot – there is an easier method though.

If you have unlocked the Explorer archetype (which requires beating the main story) and leveled it up to level 10, you can use the Treasure Hunter ability which will highlight nearby loot, and lucky the alien corpse/device is one of the things that it can highlight.

Once you’ve found it, charge in and grab everything you can. It doesn’t matter if you die, once you’ve got the items they’ll stay in your inventory even after death. Then just take it to Wallace in Ward 13 to unlock the class.
