Resident Evil 4’s new remake is a great reimagining of familiar environments, and nowhere is that more true than in the Castle area. In the last chapter, covered in our Chapter 9 walkthrough, we solved a bunch of puzzles in the Grand Hall, and navigated Ashley through a spooky library. This next chapter acts as a nice reintroduction to a classic enemy type.

For everything you need to solve Chapter 10 of the Resident Evil 4 remake, just read through our guide below. The last guide in this series is Resident Evil 4 remake Chapter 9 walkthrough.

Make sure to read our full Resident Evil 4 remake walkthrough for everything you need to find treasures and complete requests like Blue Medallions and Clockwork Castellans.

First off, we spawn in the Grand Hall. Yes, we’re still here. But now Leon has access to the Library area that Ashley was running through earlier, and there are a few treasures for him to find.

If you want to complete requests too, this is your last chance to complete the Blue Medallions request, and there’s also another Pest Control rat you can only find during this chapter. Finally, there’s also a new Merciless Knight request for you to tackle. Make sure to get all of this done before moving on. If you want more firepower, it’s also time to get a new gun, which you can find with our CQBR Assault Rifle location guide.

Novistadors, Ballroom – RE4 Remake

Opposite the Library entrance, you can find the main path we need to progress. Through here we’ll get our first encounter with the Novistadors. These giant insects don’t actually have much health, but they’re aggressive. You can parry their strikes with good timing, and shooting them out of the air will usually kill them much faster. Make sure to keep an eye out for them camouflaged in the environment, too. Hop over the barrier to the left and run up the stairs to get inside the main chamber.

You’ll appear on the left balcony of this large chamber. There are two switches we need to press to open the main gate. You can also go back down and open the double doors to the last area for a quick shortcut. From those double doors, hug the left wall underneath where you entered the room, while fighting Novistadors, and climb the ladder at the end. You’ll find the switch there.

The other switch is on the opposite side of the room, and can be reached by using the other flight of stairs. Again, get ready to fight foes.

The double Garrador Antechamber – RE4 Remake

Another drawbridge to take down up ahead. There’s an obvious weight on the right side, and the other is underneath – you’ll need to head to the left side balcony to get a good shot at it. In this next chamber, well, there are two Garrador, and a whole lot of monks to fight.

The method for killing Garradors is the same as ever, but fighting the monks will draw their attention, obviously. There are two bells in the upper room which you can shoot to distract the Garradors, at least. Feel free to use grenades and explosives to clear out the masses before you fight the two big beasts.

Both Garradors must go down before you progress, as they each hold one of the two unicorn horns required to continue.

The Depths, Verdugo – RE4 Remake

The Depths is dark and miserable, but it’s our next target. While down here you can find the Elegant Crown treasure, and you’ll need that to sell a treasure for 100k. There’s even a Clockwork Castellan in this area.

One thing you need to know about the dungeon is that, while you’re in knee-high water, you can get attacked by Novistadors. We recommend you have your shotgun at the ready and aim as soon as you see glowing eyes in the water.

Follow the narrow dungeons paths, and when you find the Elegant Crown, don’t ignore the cracked wall next to you – it is the way forward. You’ll eventually come to a ladder and a very narrow corridor. When you find the merchant make sure to stock up, as it’s a tough fight ahead.

Head to the end of the path, continuing through the offices and pathways. You’ll eventually see a scene where someone with strange vision seems to be hunting you. Watch for dodge prompts, and make sure to tap them when they appear. When you reach the end of the hallway, dip into the room on the right and open up the gate so you can continue.

Go to the rear corner of the final room and flip the switch to restore the power – and get assaulted by Verdugo.

Verdugo boss fight – RE4 Remake

You should’ve already been introduced to the liquid nitrogen showers through a document and likely your own curiosity earlier in the tunnel. The main strategy to defeat Verdugo is to use these showers to freeze and slow the monster while you unload absolutely every bullet you have into it. If you have Magnum rounds, now is the time to spend them.

You can kill Verdugo without using the showers, but it’s incredibly difficult. Also, you don’t actually need to kill the beast. If everything goes wrong (or right, depending on your perspective), the elevator will arrive to take you away before you kill it, allowing you to escape – which just might be necessary on tougher difficulties.

Once you get into the elevator, whether Verdugo is dead or not, you will be able to escape, and that concludes Chapter 10. Next up is Resident Evil 4 remake Chapter 11 walkthrough.
