Getting your equipment back - RE4 Remake
You’ll start Chapter 2 with all of your equipment missing, which means it’s time for a short stealth segment. You’ll find a kitchen knife lodged in a body, and you can crouch walk up to the first foe you see in order to use the knife to stealth kill them from behind. You won’t be able to sneak up behind the one in the next room, and it instead serves a parry tutorial.
Climb through one of the windows at the end of the room, and you’ll see another Ganado to sneak up on. Hop over the broken wall and sneak up behind them to finish em quick. That’s all of the Ganados in this building, thankfully. In the next room, use the wheel to open the door, and then run around to the room with the windows in order to get inside the room. Now you can get all of your gear back and unlock the gate. You’ll now meet the merchant, finally.
Before leaving this area, consider completing the first Pest Control quest for the merchant.
Getting the Hexagonal Emblem to open the gate - RE4 Remake
The gate in the area with the merchant is locked, so you’ll have to go to the left to find a key. This area is a big combat chamber, and the bird emblem key you need is on the building at the back. Once you have it, you’ll need to open the exit by getting up to the wheel switch which is up the hill on the left side of the chamber. You’ll have to fight a lot of Ganados, so consider picking a few off with a rifle before jumping into the fray.
There is a Clockwork Castellan in this area.
A fairly linear path is behind the Hexagonal Emblem gate. First, you’ll be tempted to stealth kill a Ganado you see, but it’s a ruse – there’s be a Ganado to your left to jump out on you. Watch out for bear traps in this area, too.
But the next area will have a Dr. Salvador encounter, the chainsaw-wielding madman. You can actually take them down here, and you’ll need to. Remember: rifle shots from a distance, shotgun shots from up close.
Once Salvador is down, you can move up to the Mayor’s house.
Mayor Bitores Mendez’ house - RE4 Remake
The Mayor’s house is short, but importantly, it includes a quick puzzle you must complete, so make sure to check our Mayor’s locker combination guide.
There’s just one Ganado in the house, hiding in the bathroom near the back door. A nice throwback. After you’ve done the lock puzzle and got the Crystal Marble, head up to the bedroom door upstairs. UIse the marble on the door, and align the dots on the marble so they resemble the Los Illuminados symbol.
Inside Mendez’ bedroom, collect the Insignia Key from the desk to complete the chapter.
