Resident Evil 4 remake Chapter 7 walkthrough
We’re onto the seventh chapter of Resident Evil 4’s fantastic remake, and this is the first chapter of the Castle, one of the meatiest parts of the game. Like the last chapter, this one will kick off with a lot of action, so take some time to refresh your supplies at the merchant, and make sure to get ready for the fight ahead.
Make sure to read our full Resident Evil 4 remake walkthrough for everything you need to find treasures and complete requests like Blue Medallions and Clockwork Castellans.
Castle Catapult fight – RE4 Remake
This first section is iconic: the catapult fight. Here you’ll need to blast your way inside the castle while also avoiding a bunch of enemies and explosives. It’ll be a tough fight, but you can do it with some patience. Follow the path from the merchant for your first new plagas encounter in Chapel, and then we can get started with the catapults.
Snipe the crossbow users from a distance, and when you approach you’ll see the catapults start to kick off. For the first section, just wait for a break between shots and sprint to the archway that’ll cover your head. Take out the enemies, and then up the stairs. From the bridge on your right, you should be able to see a red barrel next to the catapult left of the large door. You need to take out most of the catapults by shooting red barrels. Sprint over to the raised area with the round gate, and you should be able to see another red barrel to shoot from where you ran up the stairs.
You’ll need to jump down next to the round gate to get down to the cannon. Break the yellow weight holding the cannon down, and it’ll raise up. You can now use it to take out the other catapults, and the large door.
In the next room you’ll need Ramon Salazar, and will get accosted by a bunch of monks. Note for the future: you want to take out wooden shields with grenades, shotguns, or you can shoot through them if you have enough ammo.
Audience Chamber, Dungeon Garrador fight – RE4 Remake
Now that we’ve cleared out the Audience Chamber, we can send Ashley through the hole in the wall on the left side of the room, and she can unlock the gate here, allowing you to crawl through the gap in the wall behind that.
Following the path, you’ll find yourself in the dungeon. Explore and you’ll find the Dungeon Key, followed by a new path opening up, where you’ll come face to face with a Garrador – a blinded, plagas-infused monster with massive Wolverine claws, basically. You’ll need to escape this tiny prison and move into the larger chamber.
The tip for beating the Garrador is moving silently. Crouch-walk often, and avoid the chains hanging from the ceiling. If you can take it out with knives only, you’ll even complete a challenge. You can also parry Garrador slashes, and crouch to dodge certain swipes.
Once it’s down, you’ll be able to open the gate here, and head back into the main part of the Dungeon with the Dungeon Key. Check for a Clockwork Castellan in this next area.
You’ll emerge in the Treasury, and if you need help getting through these swords and symbols, you’ll need our Treasury sword puzzle guide.
The quick explanation is that doors in this area will only open up if the bells related to the symbols on the door have rung. You do this by shooting the disc-like bells, or pulling the rope beneath each bell. In this visit to the Audience Chamber, you’ll need to use the chandelier to get across, and then Ashley will help you ring the bell to open up the path forward. If you drop down to the Audience Chamber’s lower level, Ashley will lower a ladder to help you get back up.
The Water Room – RE4 Remake
Are all of the areas in this game iconic? No. Is this room iconic anyway? Yes. The Water Room is an incredibly rough area, and is just up ahead on this path. The important thing to note is that there will be a lot of enemies, and fighting them will be tougher if you don’t snipe and take out the crossbow wielders on the balconies first.
Once they’re down, you’ll be tasked with taking down shield wielders and plagas alike. Once they’re down, head to the left side of the room and jump down to the lower level, where you’ll find a few more foes. In the center of this room, you’ll find a statue holding the Halo Wheel, which is what you’ll need to get out of here.
Use the Halo Wheel on the pedestal on the right side of the lower level to get the stairs down, and head up, while preparing for more foes. And you do want to clear them all out. Take the Halo Wheel back again, and once the enemies are down, use it on the pedestal in the center of the upper level to lower the main stairs.
Final stretch of the Water Room here. Use the Halo Wheel on the pedestal a the back and then send Ashley up to the upper level here using the left side wall. Now your job is to use the rifle and pistol to keep enemies off here while also keeping yourself safe. Hopefully you have a decent amount of rifle ammo ready to go. Once the path is complete and Ashley has jumped down, you can run through to the next area.
Shortly after sending Ashley over the wall to unlock another gate, you will have concluded Chapter 7. Next up is our Resident Evil 4 remake Chapter 8 walkthrough.
