The Resident Evil 4 remake is out now, and it has a bunch of brand-new requests from the iconic merchant. One that you can take care of in Chapter 5 is called A Savage Mutt, and if you don’t know where you go, you might never find this enemy.

In this guide, we’re showing you where you can find the enemy for the A Savage Mutt request and how to take it down in Resident Evil 4’s remake.

Make sure to read our full Resident Evil 4 remake walkthrough for everything you need to find treasures and complete requests like Blue Medallions and Clockwork Castellans.

Where to start the A Savage Mutt request – RE4 Remake

After rescuing Ashley from the Church in Chapter 5, you’ll be heading toward the village when you encounter the merchant. He’ll have placed a brand new request on the wall of the Town Hall where he waits.

You can only complete this request during Chapter 5 when you return to the village – if you go straight for the Extraction Point, you can never complete this request. Head towards the Mayor’s House, and on the map you should see a monster icon there for A Savage Mutt.

While you’re in the Mayor’s House with Ashley, you should use the ladder to get into the attic that you likely unlocked earlier.

You won’t find anything inside, but as you exit, you’ll see a wild dog head towards the village. This is where the showdown happens.

This mongrel is pretty much the same as all of the others, just bigger, meaner, hits harder, and has more health. It will also spawn a plaga once you’ve done enough damage, at which point Flash Grenades will heavily stun it.

Use all of the ammo you have, get up close, and blast away with that shotgun. As long as you focus fire and hit most of your shots, you should be able to take care of this mutt easily enough. If you manage to stun it on the ground, make sure to run up and stab it with your knife for extra damage which can help finish the fight.
