Sonic Superstars is a new 2D Sonic adventure with all four of the classic Sonic characters, even bringing classic Amy in as a playable character. She’s not the only new playable character in the game though, as it also introduces Trip the Sungazer, an orange lizard who spends most of the game hiding in their mechanical suit.

Throughout the main story, she will slowly come out of her shell though, and you’ll be able to unlock her as a playable character by fulfilling certain requirements – she even has her own campaign. We’ll tell you how to unlock Trip in Sonic Superstars.

How to unlock Trip in Sonic Superstars

Sonic Superstars Trip Gameplay

To unlock Trip, you must beat the main story with any character.

With 11 zones to complete this will take a little while, not to mention that the main game’s final boss is a long and difficult fight. Still, come out triumphant and Trip will be unlocked for the main story alongside a new campaign: Trip’s Story.

Trip’s Story is a bit like a New Game Plus campaign, as you’ll be facing off against harder versions of the main campaign’s levels and bosses, designed more around Trip’s moveset.

Trip can double jump, and turns into a spiky ring when she does. This ring not only damages enemies but allows Trip to scale any walls she sticks onto as well – a bit like a combination of Amy and Knuckles’ abilities. What’s more, she has a very special super form if you have all seven Chaos Emeralds, but you can find that out for yourself.

You’ll need to complete Trip’s Story if you want to see the Sonic Superstars true final boss.
