If you’re surviving out in the wild, then a shovel is a key tool for keeping yourself safe. In Sons of the Forest, you can use a shovel to aid with building and crafting in your world, and the developers hope that you will eventually be able to use it to uncover buried secrets and help hide your traps.

It’s not an easy item to find though, and you’ll need to get your hands on other items first, so we’ll tell you where to find a shovel in Sons of the Forest.

How to get the shovel in Sons of the Forest

To get the shovel you’ll need to head to the cave entrance circled on the above map. The entrance is submerged in a shallow pool of water and three corpses surround the entrance. It’s hard to miss.

However, you should first travel over to the cave southwest of that one to get the Rope Gun – make sure you bring zip wire too. Then head to the cave directly north of the circled cave, on the coast, as that’s where you’ll find the Rebreather.

You’ll need to use both of these items to traverse the cave, but your reward will be a precious shovel found near yet another corpse.
