Star Wars has plenty of memorable monsters and villains in its universe, so it’s no surprise that Jedi Survivor would want to take advantage of that, and places a few such enemies in your path. One of the earlier you can encounter is the giant and viscous Rancor. This monster waits below the surface on Koboh and is one of the tougher fights the game has to offer.

We’ll show you where you can encounter it, and give you some tips on how to defeat it.

To prepare for this fight, make sure you have the best Lightsaber stances and best skills ready to go.

Rancor location – Star Wars Jedi Survivor

To find the Rancor you’ll need to explore the Sodden Grotto. This is an underground mine area, you can find the entrance a little ways off from the roller mine factory, which you must investigate for a rumor. It’s a pretty simple area to navigate, and once you reach the end you’ll find a mediation point where you can rest.

Drop down into the big chamber the Rancor will emerge.

How to defeat the Rancor – Star Wars Jedi Survivor

If you’ve just landed on Koboh for the first time, then you’re probably not ready to face the Rancor. This monster deals huge damage and can easily kill you in a single hit.

You should progress through the story at least up until you unlock the blaster stance, as this will be the most effective weapon against the Rancor. While your shots will be limited, you should hit it with charged blaster shots as often as you can, as this is an easy way to chip away at its health.

It won’t win you the battle alone though – you’ll need to get up close and personal. The Rancor’s attacks usually see it lunging forwards in some way or another, but it has a generous cool-down period after an attack where you can get a few decent swings in. Don’t get greedy though, pull back before it starts to wind up again.

Most importantly, when the Rancor flashes orange, it will be attempting one of two unblockable attacks. One is a wave of debris kicked up, which will do heavy damage, but the other is a guaranteed one-hit-kill, as it will grab you and eat you in one bite – avoid this at all costs.

Ultimately, be patient and keep chipping away and you’ll take it down, getting yourself the Shatter perk, which increases the damage you do to enemy defenses.
