The Total War series of strategy games is currently having a sale on Steam with games being discounted by up to 75% of their original price. With Total War: Pharaoh releasing soon and a new engine seemingly in development at Creative Assembly to power future projects, there is much to look forward to from the franchise.

In the meantime, this sale is a fantastic opportunity to fill your library with missing DLC or grab some classic Total War games you’ve never had the chance to play. With quite a few historical eras being served, though, it’s always a little confusing to dive into the offers. Total War: Medieval 2 – Definitive Edition

  • For those who love knights in shining armor, mowing down knights in shining armor with longbows, and are ready to depose the Pope.

A classic connected to many people’s childhood memories, Medieval 2 may be somewhat dated from today’s perspective, but it still has lots to offer: Knights charging into infantry and throwing models around, elephants with bombards mounted on them trampling over the battlefield, and a flood of Mongols overwhelming the map from the East. You also need the title to play the best Lord of the Rings game ever made, which is a mod for this one.
