Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: The Flute Player’s Plan quest guide
Contents
If you want to upgrade your armor to the max in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, then you will need to help the Stable Trotters. This is a troupe of musicians that have unfortunately fell out with one another, despite the fact that they are needed to wake up the Great Fairies scattered across Hyrule.
In this guide we’re covering The Flute Player’s Plan quest, which is required to wake the Great Fairy at Outskirt Stable. In this guide we’ll show you how to find the quest, complete it, and locations for those pesky Sunset Fireflies.
Make sure to check our full list of Great Fairy locations to make these quests easier.

How to find the Stable Trotters Flute player – Zelda TOTK
You can find Pyper the flutist of the Stable Trotters in some trees near Highland Stable - check our all Stable locations guide for that one. He has some goals in mind before he can rejoin the Stable Trotters, so you’ll start The Flute Player’s Plan quest.
The Flute Player’s Plan quest solution – Zelda TOTK
Pyper simply wants ten Sunset Fireflies, but they’re quite difficult to get. Luckily, he gives you a location where you can find them. This is all Pyper’s quest requires, but actually getting the Sunset Fireflies he wants can be a bit of a challenge – check our Sunset Firefly location breakdown below for more on that.
Once you return with the Sunset Fireflies, skip forward to the next night and speak with the young Haite at the stable. Bring her to Pyper near the trees to complete the quest.
Sunset Firefly location – Zelda TOTK
There are two methods to get Sunset Fireflies reliably. First, Beedle has Sunset Fireflies in stock when he visits Highland Stable – though he only stocks three at a time, and you might need to wait for a Blood Moon before he restocks. This can take some time, meaning if this is your sole method of acquiring Sunset Fireflies, it’ll take a minimum of four trips to Beedle and three Blood Moons. Yikes.
You can find a place which has a better stock of them, though. If you go directly North from Highland Stable you’ll find Pagos Woods, and there are loads flying around here. If you run up to them though, they’ll fly away. Crouch up or use a Stealth bonus to grab them easily.
Note that they only appear at night. You’ll need to either rest by a campfire or stay at the Stable Inn to skip to night, if it’s not the right time for you.
