The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has so much to do and find, so many places to go, that it’s all too easy to ignore what’s right under your nose. Case in point, you will leave the tutorial area before even getting the Paraglider, and if you decide to go the wrong way, it could be some time before you actually unlock it.

If you’ve played Breath of the Wild, you know how important the Paraglider is, and with all of those Sky Islands, it’s even more valuable than ever. But you’ll only be able to get the Paraglider after you’ve landed back on ground-level Hyrule.

For everything you need to get the Paraglider in Tears of the Kingdom, just read through our instructions below.

Lookout Landing – Zelda TOTK

Once you leave the Great Sky Island tutorial area, you’ll find yourself quite close to Hyrule Field. Hyrule Castle is floating off in the distance, and you’ll see the tower poking out from Lookout Landing before it. Lookout Landing will be set as your waypoint by default, so head over using any method you see fit. Walk, run, find a mount, or make a car, why not.

Head to Robbie, who’ll be near the main building to the North of the town. He’ll tell you to find Purah. She’s just upstairs inside the building. Try to open the door to get a cutscene introducing her.

Finding Captain Hoz – Zelda TOTK

Purah tasks you with heading towards Hyrule Castle to recover Captain Hoz, who’s investigating the place. He’s in danger of running into the same trouble Link did, after all. Run towards Hyrule Castle Town Ruins to the North, and head straight for the Hyrule Castle gates. There is also a shrine nearby, the Kyononis Shrine, which you should go over to for a Fast Travel point.

Head straight towards the castle gates and use Ultrahand to open them up. You’ll need to run towards the First Gatehouse. Captain Hoz is overlooking the place from the roof. You can make a bridge with two long wooden boards nearby in order to climb up the castle more easily, especially since it’s likely to start raining.

Captain Hoz witnesses something incredible with Link, and so it’s time for Link to return to Purah.

Lookout Landing Skyview Tower – Zelda TOTK

Once you return to Purah at Lookout Landing, she’ll say it’s time to learn about Skyview Towers, which is very important. But before you can survey the sky, you’ll need to be able to glide to safety. So she gives Link the Paraglider, at long last. This is a permanent item that can be used any time while in the air by pressing X. Of course, you need enough stamina to use it.
