Recall might be the easiest ability to use. Hold L and select it from the left side of the ability wheel, and then simply select a highlighted object to have it reverse its course. Of course, for this to have any effect, you need to actually ensure the object was moving recently.
This is essentially in dozens of puzzles, but can also be used in combat. When an enemy throws something at you, simply use Recall on it. You can also use it for traversal, and with a bit of ability juggling, you can use it to make traversal much easier.
One of the best things to use Recall on are the falling ruins you see around Hyrule. If they’ve fallen recently, you can climb them, use Recall, and then glide from the top to cover distance and climb mountains.
Recall techniques explained – Zelda TOTK
The uses for Recall in Shrine puzzles and are obvious, but how about using it to cheekily get around? For example, you can use Ultrahand on a large item, lift it high into the air, then place it down. Immediately after, climb on top of the item and use Recall, and it’ll trace the same movement pattern. If you haven’t invested in Stamina yet, this is a cheeky way to get a fair way up cliffs and hills before you start using your stamina stores.
Recall is surprisingly flexible in puzzles, combat, and traversal, so make sure to keep its uses in mind as you move around Hyrule.
