- Tulin of Rito Village quest – Reaching the Wind Temple
Before you enter the Wind Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you must first find the young Rito warrior Tulin. Once you meet Tulin in Rito Village, he will fly off, and it’s your task to bring him back. If you haven’t found Tulin in Rito Village, you can get to him quickly with our guide.
The Tulin of Rito Village quest requires you to go all over Hebra in search for Tulin as you seemingly keep missing him. If you’re struggling to catch up, here’s everything you need to know. This guide will walk you through the entire quest, from reaching Tulin to climbing the Rising Island Chain and reaching the Wind Temple in the skies above Hebra Peak.
Tulin of Rito Village quest – Getting to the lodge
After you find Tulin the first time, Teba will point you towards two bonfires off in the distance. Before you glide over there, though, make sure you purchase some warm clothing. Near the end of the quest, you will require Cold Resistance Level 2, so you can either buy two pieces or wear one piece and eat some Spicy Pepper meals. Either way, make sure you stay warm. You will also need a Hylian Pine Cone.
Once you are suitably wrapped up, glide over towards the bonfires from the lookout where you first met Tulin. You can do this with just one wheel of stamina, so don’t worry if you didn’t upgrade it yet.
Walk forward, and you will see a lodge behind the bonfires.
Head inside and talk to Harth, the Rito that is saying ‘busy, busy, busy’.
He will tell you that Tulin went to the Hebra South Summit Cave.

Harth will point you towards a ladder outside the lodge that you can climb, where there is a short ascent up a snowy hill. On your left, if you scale the cliffside, is the Hebra Skyview Tower. It’s a good idea to grab this if you haven’t already. There is also the Sahirow Shrine up the cliff to your right. This shrine, in particular, gives you a clear view of the cave which has a fire lit at the entrance.
If you choose to grab neither of these, you can simply continue up the path. There is a slight fork, and you will want to take the left path. The cave can be found at the end of this road.
There is another Rito standing at the entrance, who will also tell you that you’ve just missed Tulin, and that he is now on the other side of the cave.

Getting through the cave is not too difficult. You will see a lot of brambles as you walk though, but there is always a path you can take to avoid them. If you don’t fancy the risk, you can also burn them away using a torch and the fire at the entrance.
Climb up the left side, and eventually, you’ll come to a windy tunnel. Use the paraglider to go up here, and continue on.
The next tunnel you’ll find has no wind but it does have some wood and flint. Place one flint on the woodpile and fuse another to your weapon. Strike the flint together and it will start a fire. You can then use a Hylian Pine Cone to make the fire bigger, which will then allow you to go up here.
At the top, there is yet another Rito who tells you that you have just missed Tulin.
They tell you that Tulin has gone looking for a monster nest, so this is where we will go next.

Luckily, we are now not far from Tulin. Go up the snowy embankment and you will see Tulin standing at the edge near the top, looking at some ruins.
Approach him and a cutscene will start that tells you that Tulin had his bow stolen by the monster flying around there. You will then be able to use Tulin’s Power of the Wind ability.
Glide off the platform and use this new power to go to the platform below the flying beast, which is known as an Aerocuda. You just need to hit it with a single arrow to get Tulin his bow back.
Some more Bokoblins will come but these are easy enough to take out. After this a cutscene will play, and Tulin will become your new companion.
Tulin of Rito Village quest – Climbing Hebra Peak
In the cutscene, you'll be joined by Harth and Huck, who will ask you and Tulin to go to the sky islands above Hebra Peak, where Tulin says he saw Princess Zelda. It's easy to reach the peak by climbing and gliding between platforms, thanks to Tulin's gust.
When you reach the peak, Huck will be waiting there for another brief conversation.
After the cutscene, use Tulin's gust to jump to the next platform and continue climbing toward the sky by using Ascend and the boost your Rito companion provides to your paraglider.
In no time, you'll reach the Rising Island Chain with the Mayaumekis Shrine in front of you, when another cutscene will start, in which Tulin will point you to a boat floating in the sky.
Tulin of Rito Village quest – Rising Island Chain walkthrough
Go toward the stairs to your left for another cutscene in which you'll hear a voice from the sky above saying, "Come... to me..." and witness dozens of boats floating around in the giant storm whirlwind. A lightning strike reveals a huge floating ship hidden in the storm. That's the Wind Temple you will have to reach.
Each of these small boats' sails will act as a trampoline, significantly boosting your jumps. Make sure you use your paraglider to land safely after a trampoline jump. After the second cutscene, climb the stairs and hop onto the trampoline to reach the next island.
Don't forget to activate Mayaumekis Shrine, so you can easily fast travel to the islands if you fall off.
Next, continue making your way up the island chain by using Tulin's gust, paragliding, climbing, Ascend, and the boat trampolines. You'll encounter some Zonai Constructs guarding the place, but most of them are quite easy to defeat, especially your Rito friend at your side.
You will reach an island with three boxes and a pillar with icicles. Remove the icicles with arrows and stack the boxes with Ultrahand to use Ascend. After defeating a construct, you will find a Zonai chest containing 3x Portable Pots.
Destroy some more icicles ahead, glide to the pillar and Ascend. Keep climbing and gliding with the help of your avian friend.
Now there's an island with a hole covered in ice and a boat beneath it, jump on the ice cap several times to break it and use the boat trampoline to proceed to the next island in the chain.
There's a Flux Construct I miniboss below, but you don't need to fight it now if you don't want to.
Next, there's an island with three Aerocudas flying around it and another iced island with a boat beneath it. You know the drill. Break the ice, jump on the boat. Once you reach the island above, kill the Aerocudas and gust your way to the next island, which has a hole covered with rocks.
Break the rocks with a melee weapon, preferably one with a Boulder fused to it, and use the boat just below to reach the next set of islands.
Climb the stairs on the next island and use gust to reach a boat, Ascend to its trampoline and use it to jump on the next boat, while dodging or killing any Aerocudas that try to stop you.
You have now reached an island with a small temple-like structure and a pool full of Chillfin Trout, a cooking pot, shrooms and crates with arrows. Now's the time to replenish your stash of cold resistance dishes. Ascend through the structure's roof and continue to the next set of islands, where Aerocudas and Zonai Constructs are fighting each other.
Reach the next island, defeat the remaining constructs and move quickly through the bridge as it will start falling apart, one block at a time. Kill the soldier construct and move to the next set of islands. Defeat the three constructs, climb the stairs and use the Zonai devices there to build a balloon with Ultrahand.
Glide to the next island and use Ascend on the pillar above it. Climb to the top of this island and carefully jump and glide from boat to boat, because this time some of the boats are moving. Reach another icy island, and use the boat beneath it to jump to the next one, where a cutscene will start.
Tulin will warn you that it's getting too cold. From now on, you will need Cold Resistance Level 2, so make sure you have either two items of cold resistant clothing or one item and good supply of cold resistance food or elixirs. Otherwise, you'll start losing hearts fast.
Tulin of Rito Village quest – Reaching the Wind Temple
Go to the Kahatanaum Shrine in front of you and definitely activate it, because the final part of your ascent is quite challenging. Climb the stairs next to the shrine and jump from the boat to the next island above. This time, use Tulin's gust while gliding to reach the island.
The next section will require you to time your jumps carefully as the boats are moving again. Make your way upwards jumping and gliding between boats, using Tulin's ability when needed. To make things easier, here are some tips:
- Jump and glide against the direction of the boats and don't try to catch up with a boat that has already passed by.
- Try to jump from boat to boat often to recover stamina.
- To get through this faster, you can carefully dive down to a boat by pressing R, so you don't miss it.
- Take some rest at islands to allow your friend's gust to recharge.
- Fast travel to Kahatanaum Shrine to start over, if you run out of stamina and gust, and can't reach a boat.
Eventually you'll get to an island with long stairs at the top of the storm. Climb the stairs and you should be able to jump to the last boat which will let you hop inside the cloud. Glide down to the massive ship below.
You have now reached the Wind Temple, also known as the Stormwind Ark. As you land on its deck, a cutscene will start and you can now move on to our full Wind Temple walkthrough.
