One of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s biggest new features is the ability to fuse items together – both physics items out in the world with Ultrahand and materials and weapons using Fuse. Using both of these abilities is quick, intuitive, and easy, but sometimes the simple stuff can stump you.

One of the things you might not know right away is how to unfuse weapons without destroying the fused materials, or how to unstick items glued together with Ultrahand. This guide will teach you everything you need to know about unfusing items in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

How to unfuse weapons - Zelda TOTK

There are generally two ways to unfuse weapons in Tears of the Kingdom, but one of them destroys the fused material, while the other returns it to your inventory.

The first method simply has you go to your inventory by pressing the Plus button, then scrolling over to weapons. From here, you can select the weapon you want to unfuse, and select “Destroy fused material.”

As the prompt suggests, this will destroy whatever material is attached to the base weapon. If you are unsure which part is the base weapon, look to the infobox below Link — the part to the left of the plus sign is the base weapon, and whatever’s after the plus sign will be destroyed.

The other way to unfuse weapons will require you to go to Tarrey Town, which is located in the north-east of Hyrule. Tarrey Town is the place where you can build your own house, so it’s worth checking out.

Here, you’ll want to talk to a small Goron on the east side of the town called Pelison. At a cost of 20 rupees, Pelison will break the weapon apart, returning both the base weapon and the fused material to the platform next to Pelison.

Note that this will not return the durability of the base weapon back to full, but if you want to rescue a particularly useful fusion material before the weapon breaks, this is the place to do it.

How to unfuse items with Ultrahand - Zelda TOTK

While Ultrahand is undoubtedly one of the most useful abilities in the game, it can be a bit frustrating at times, and you will almost certainly stick an object to another incorrectly at least once throughout your playthrough.

Thankfully, unsticking these two attached objects is very simple. Simply activate Ultrahand, then select the part you want to unstick. Press A to pick up the object, then wiggle the right stick to unstick it. It’s worth noting that this will remove all objects stuck to this particular object — for example, if you have four wheels attached to a plank of wood, unsticking the plank will cause all the wheels to drop off.
