Alan Wake is coming to Dead By Daylight as the horror game’s latest survivor, complete with light-based perks and a frightening new threat. Ilkka Villi reprises his role as Alan Wake’s physical model in Dead By Daylight, and actor Matthew Porretta will return as Alan’s voice with new lines – and screams – recorded for Behaviour's multiplayer game.

“Since its launch in 2010, Alan Wake has influenced us on the Dead by Daylight team,” Mathieu Coté, Behaviour’s head of partnerships, said in a press release. “Our games already feel connected in many ways. To finally see Alan come to the Fog as a Survivor feels like a full-circle moment.”

“We are thrilled and honored to have Alan Wake enter the Fog of Dead by Daylight,” Sam Lake, Remedy Entertainment’s creative director, said. “The lore of both games is surprisingly compatible, a true match in… hell. With Alan Wake 2 now out, the time is right for another nightmare to begin.”

Alan’s perks are, appropriately, themed around light. One is Champion of Light, which boosts his movement speed while he’s using a flashlight and inflicts Hindered Movement on a killer if Alan manages to blind them with the flashlight. Another is Deadline, which activates when Alan sustains an injury and increases the frequency of skill checks while healing allies or repairing generators. If Alan fails a check, Deadline halves the failure penalty.

Finally is Boon: Illumination, a Totem perk that lets allies see the auras of generators and chests. It also lets you and your fellow survivors cleanse and bless Totems more quickly.

It's not all flashlights and boons, though. Behaviour is also adding the Lights Out modifier, a tool that removes tools from survivors for a limited time.

The Alan Wake and Dead By Daylight crossover begins when DbD’s new chapter releases on Jan. 30, 2024, and while developer Behaviour didn’t say how much he’ll cost, you can probably expect to pay approximately $9.99, similar to the Nicolas Cage bundle.

Remedy has much more Alan in store for 2024, with at least one round of Alan Wake 2 DLC planned for launch later in the year.
