The Asus ROG Ally, a new handheld gaming PC that aims to compete with Valve’s Steam Deck, is now available for pre-orders.

Launching on June 13, 2023, at a price of $699, the Asus ROG Ally runs on Windows and is a bit pricier than even the most expensive edition of the Steam Deck. In return for the higher cost, Asus’ machine packs a bit more oomph than Valve’s, coming with a more impressive set of hardware.

A slightly lower-spec version of the Asus ROG Ally with an AMD Ryzen Z1 processor instead of the regular version's Z1 Extreme will launch later this year for $599, though this is not yet available for pre-orders.

Asus claims that the Ally will be able to sustain up to two hours of gaming in performance mode before it needs to be charged, while it can go just short of seven hours in silent mode for things like watching videos or streams.

The device comes with three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for free as well, so there won’t be a shortage of playable titles in case this is your first foray into the PC gaming sphere.
