It’s been almost three years since Baldur’s Gate 3 released into early access on PC, a time in which the successor to one of the most iconic Dungeons & Dragons video games ever grew immensely in terms of content and polish. That time will finally come to an end on August 31, 2023, when Baldur’s Gate 3 graduates from early access and releases in full on PC and PS5. The Xbox Series X|S version has been confirmed to be in development, but won’t be out for a while.

Today at the Summer Game Fest showcase, Jason Isaacs was revealed to be joining the voice cast as the primary antagonist, and he's sounding incredible, as always. Jason Isaacs has had a long and storied career appearing in the Harry Potter film series, The Legend of Korra, and so much more.

Based on a slightly modified D&D 5th Edition ruleset, Baldur’s Gate 3 is a CRPG developed by Larian Studios, the developer behind the masterful Divinity: Original Sin 2, and features a strong cast bringing its characters to life, such as actor J. K. Simmons.

The initial early access release contained only the first act of the game amounting to some 25 hours of gameplay and featuring about a fifth of the world map, but despite of this limitation the game became a bestseller on Steam as soon as it was available, peaking at over 70,000 users playing it at the same time.

Baldur’s Gate 3 features a multiplayer co-op mode alongside its single-player mode, allowing players to form up a party and go through the adventure together. The game’s events take place over 120 years after Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and only a few months after Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus, which is a tabletop adventure Wizards of the Coast released for D&D 5E as a prequel to the video game.
