Larian seems to be cooking a Baldur’s Gate 3 holiday special for Patch 5
It’s no secret that Larian Studios wants to publish the fifth big update for Baldur’s Gate 3 this week. In fact, the Belgian developer has already announced some of the things players should expect to find in Patch 5, such as a fix for Astarion’s miserable attempts at kissing someone or an end to the performance problems caused by player crimes.
What Larian teased now, though, is new: It seems to be an invitation of sorts to an event called “Withers’ Epilogue Party Extravaganza” coming with Patch 5. The ticket features Withers’ head with an adorable party hat next to a speech bubble proclaiming “Fun is mandatory!” Oh, boy.
What else does the ticket tell us? Bringing our living friends, huh? Alright, not attending this one in my Dark Urge playthrough, then. Reminiscing by the campfire? Again, not exactly going to be festive as Dark Urge, as all there is to remember is blood and gore. Dressing to impress? Now there’s something even the biggest murder hobo on the Sword Coast can do, presuming you picked up all those precious outfits you could loot along the way. Okay Withers, we’re in!
Why is Withers the one hosting a happy holiday feast? Hard to say, honestly. Does being undead mean that he’s very traditional? Did his unending wisdom bring him to the conclusion that what’s really important about this whole adventure has been the friends we made along the way? Doesn’t matter. We seem to be getting more content, and that’s all that counts.
Aside from the release of Patch 5, which Larian has stated to be quite substantial, it’s going to be a busy end of the year for Baldur’s Gate 3: It will finally come to Xbox Series X|S and is set as one of the big favorites to win some prestigious trophies at The Game Awards 2023.
