Your wallet may fear it, dread it, run from it, but Prime Day happens all the same – and this deal is one you may not regret. If you’re contemplating getting a Xbox Series S to enjoy the library of Xbox Game Pass including upcoming highlights like Starfield, then the ongoing sale at Amazon could be your ticket to gaming heaven: Over at Amazon UK you can currently get a discount of 35% off the console, grabbing it for just £149.

Microsoft has recently announced a new 1TB version of the Xbox Series S, so discounts on the standard version of the budget console should become more frequent in the future – hopefully outside the UK as well.

Getting a Xbox Series S at this moment is especially great as Microsoft has just revived the $1 – or your regional equivalent – trial subscription to Xbox Game Pass, giving you one month for just a single coin of currency. That’s perfect to test things out and get started, especially since prices for the subscription have gone up otherwise.

The Xbox Series S comes without the ability to play from a disc, being an online-only console. It’s the cheapest current gen console available and Microsoft is making sure that any title coming to Xbox Series X is playable on the Series S as well, keeping it relevant.

This particular offer is for a refurbished version of the hardware, so one that was returned to the seller after an initial purchase due to a minor fault – these are often small issues like loose connectors. The consoles are then fixed, given a make-over, and sold again at a discount – but less of an attractive one than now. In effect these consoles are as good as brand-new ones and come with the same refund policies, so it’s not like you’ll be stuck with them if there’s a problem.

Prime Day deals on July 12, 2023, so you’ve only got a little bit of time to think things through.
