Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a smash hit since its PC launch at the beginning of August. Sitting pretty at 96 on Metacritic it is on par with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and the best-reviewed game of 2023.

PS5 players will soon get their hands on the game, as it launched there on September 3, 2023, however, there has been a big question mark over when or even if Xbox owners would ever get to play it.

Thankfully, we now have news on that front, as Larian Studio’s Swen Vincke has announced that they have “found a solution” that will allow the team to bring the game to Xbox this year. The team has faced trouble bringing the game to Xbox, with the Series S in particular causing problems.

The game will be coming to both the Series X and S, however, the Series S version will be without local split-screen co-op. This is a shame, but if the alternative is no Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox at all, it’s a worthwhile compromise. Vincke also clarified that there will be cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox, letting you transfer your save data between the platforms if you want.
