Capcom is bringing Monster Hunter to Raid Shadow Legends
Capcom and Plarium are teaming up for a Monster Hunter and Raid Shadow Legends crossover, as the popular monster-catching RPG comes to the successful mobile game for the first time. From Jan. 9, 2024, through March 5, 2024, you can get five new legendary-tier champions with weapons and armor themed after some of Monster Hunter’s most popular critters.
The five Monster Hunter Raid champions are themed after:
- Alatreon
- Fatalis
- Zinogre
- Nergigante
There’s also a Rathalos Blademaster champion, who you can recruit by logging in for seven days while the collaboration runs. The other four come from special events, and there’s a few community and in-game celebrations to mark the occasion.
Capcom and Niantic on making a faithful Monster Hunter mobile game
“We are thrilled to bring players an exciting new collection of Champions based on some of the most celebrated monsters in the Monster Hunter universe,” Ronen Gross, Plarium’s VP of business development, said in a statement. “It was an incredible experience collaborating with Capcom to perfectly blend both franchises and create something that feels similar yet completely unique.”
There’s even a set of trailers explaining how these grizzled monster hunters ended up in Raid’s world of Teleria.
Raid: Shadow Legends is a free-to-play mobile game, and it’s also available on PC via Steam now.
Meanwhile, Capcom is enjoying an unexpected Monster Hunter renaissance after a successful campaign to get people back into Monster Hunter World by offering the game at a discount. On Steam, MH World reached one of its highest concurrent player counts since launch in 2018, buoyed, perhaps, by Capcom’s announcement of Monster Hunter Wilds at The Game Awards 2023.
Don't expect that one for a while, though. Monster Hunter Wilds is planned for release in 2025.
