Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 3 is coming up quickly, so it’s about time we look ahead and check out what the first-person shooter and its battle royale cousin’s next big update has in store.

Season 2 already fulfilled some fan wishes by finally adding ranked play and the Season 2 Reloaded update further expanded the pool of available maps.

With more of Activision’s resources working on Call of Duty content than ever before, Season 3 is sure to bring another big wave of fresh content into the two games.

Here’s everything you need to know about Season 3 in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 from its start date to included content.

CoD Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 3: start date

Infinity Ward has confirmed an official release date for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 3 with the in-game battle pass timer once again serving as a reliable compass.

Season 2’s battle pass is set to run out on April 12, 2023, which just so happens to be a Wednesday – the traditional day for Call of Duty patches. Expect the update to hit at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST / 6pm CEST, which is the usual time for Call of Duty to be patched.

A new sniper rifle is already confirmed to join the roster of available weapons and it’s an old acquaintance for those who played the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009: the FJX Imperium Intervention. It’s going to be included in the Season 3 battle pass, from which you can unlock it.

Pelayo’s Lighthouse will be a new 6v6 map for Modern Warfare 2 and features a very moody atmosphere with lots of fog, rain, and darkness. It was featured in a teaser for Season 3 and thus can be safely assumed to arrive at some point during the update’s duration.

Two familiar operators from the campaign, Alejandro and Valeria, will join the party in Season 3.

Infinity Ward has confirmed a new game mode for Season 3 as well: Gunfight will return. This mode first debuted in 2019’s Modern Warfare and delivers lightning-quick matches featuring teams consisting of one to three players fighting against each other.

Warzone 2 is set to be expanded with the Resurgence mode coming to Al Mazrah at the beginning of Season 3, while the long-awaited debuts of Plunder and Ranked Play in the battle royale will happen later on in the season.

We expect a bunch of additional weapons and content pieces to arrive in Season 3 aside from these items. The update will feature a round of balance changes and quality of life improvements as well.
