The colosseums of Elden Ring are finally opening their doors with a free update coming tomorrow, December 7.

Once it launches, players will be able to head to the colosseums of Limgrave, Leyndell, and Caelid to take on other players in arena fights.

Duels, free-for-alls, and team fights will be available.

This announcement finally solves one of the game's biggest mysteries - the purpose of the colosseums - which modders and dataminers have been speculating over since the game's launch earlier this year.

FromSoftware games often have a multiplayer component and Elden Ring was no different at launch, but it was often difficult to find a good match due to the vastness of the world.

The new update should provide some good places to congregate if you're looking to tussle with another player.

The Game Awards will be streamed this Thursday, and Elden Ring is nominated for a range of different awards. Perhaps we'll get a taste of the game's first paid expansion at the same time.
