Fortnite OG is next season's return to the original Battle Royale map

Fortnite OG is taking the classic battle royale game all the way back to Chapter 1

After a few weeks of rumors and speculation, it has been officially confirmed that Fortnite OG, also known as Fortnite Chapter 1, is officially happening. A teaser image was posted to Twitter late last week showing off the original Battle Bus alongside the hashtag Fortnite OG, and a brand new teaser today claiming “It’s time to go back…” has officially confirmed that the original map for Fortnite Battle Royale will be returning next season.

Through some time travel shenanigans, players will all be thrown back in time to this original map, which hasn’t been seen in Fortnite since October 2019, when Chapter 1 first ended, but even that version of the map had gone through many changes, meaning we really have to turn the clock all the way back to December 2017 to count the last time we saw this map in this form.

However, while the map is being rolled back to the beginning of Fortnite’s life, the mechanics aren’t. Features like sprinting, sliding, and mantling will all still be possible next season. Even Fortnite Zero Build will be available, with new ziplines and climbing wires being added to the map only in that mode to make up for places that would be unreachable without building.

While we don’t have any official confirmations of what else is coming yet, leakers like HYPEX – who are usually accurate in their leaks – have teased items like the Shopping Cart and Turrets returning, as well as remixes of classic Fortnite skins from Chapter 1 like Peely, Team Leader, and Ragnarok.

Most importantly, though, we know for a fact that this new season will begin on November 3, 2023. We’ll be keeping track of everything on update day, especially the Fortnite downtime, and we’ll track when the servers are expected to go back up.
