Frostpunk is coming to mobile and you can sign up for Early Access now
Frostpunk 2 is not the only game from the franchise created by Polish developer 11 Bit Studios to become available in 2024 – Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice is a free-to-play mobile game coming to Android and iOS with Early Access for users in the United States, United Kingdom, and the Philippines starting soon. Interested mobile gamers can sign up on their respective store to be considered for participating in the playtests.
Developed by Chinese studio NetEase Games in partnership with 11 Bit Studios and published by South Korean company Com2uS, Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice follows the original recipe and puts players in charge of a freezing city built around a giant steam engine. Users need to keep their town warm as the eternal ice closes in, making sure that their population survives all of the trials and tribulations this extreme weather scenario has to offer.
In the mobile version, new features like guilds, resource trading, and an animal shelter will be introduced to provide for player interaction.
“Com2uS has a proven track record in translating iconic IPs from entertainment and sports like The Walking Dead to Major League Baseball into immersive mobile experiences that can be enjoyed everywhere,” commented Jihoon Han, head of the Com2uS Game Business Division. “We are excited to incorporate feedback from the core user base to create an enjoyable experience for global players.”
Meanwhile 11 Bit Studios is busy putting the finishing touches on Frostpunk 2, which is going to be an evolution of the original game, transitioning from a city survival game to a society survival game – an extremely intriguing plan, as our Frostpunk 2 gamescom 2023 preview has shown.
