Update 4.0 for Genshin Impact is inbound and a livestream on August 4, 2023, will have a lot of juicy details for players in this regard. HoYoverse has already announced a few changes ahead of the special program, though, which have fans very excited about.

Artifacts are incredibly important for builds of Genshin Impact characters and it takes a long time to find the perfect piece of gear for a specific character, which means players will pick up a ton of items they don’t really need. Managing artifacts is going to become easier in the future: Update 4.0 will increase the available artifact inventory space from 1,500 to 1,800, allowing you to carry at least 300 additional items. You’ll be able to auto-add items of 4-Star quality when leveling up artifacts as well, making it unnecessary to manually choose each individual piece – this is going to make it so much easier to upgrade artifacts and keep your inventory somewhat clean.

Starting with version 4.0 the Crafting Bench’s Mystic Offering tab will allow you to produce eight additional artifact strongboxes:

  • Tenacity of the Millelith
  • Husk of Opulent Dreams
  • Pale Flame
  • Ocean-Hued Clam
  • Shimenawa’s Reminiscence
  • Vermillion Hereafter
  • Emblem of Severed Fate
  • Echoes of an Offering

These are only the first quality-of-life improvements coming to the artifact system. HoYoverse stated that it was currently discussing ways to make locking and equipping artifacts a lot less cumbersome, so expect more changes to come in the future.

Changes are coming to the battle pass as well: Update 4.0 brings five additional weapons into the game that can be chosen in the paid version of the battle pass after reaching level 30. More details on this equipment will be released soon.

HoYoverse will add support for gyroscope controllers on PC, PS4, and PS5 with the upcoming patch and allow players to observe matches in Genius Invokation TCG through their friend list in the game.

These announcements followed an earlier post by HoYoverse discussing their plans for coming quality-of-life improvements, such as the multi-layered map coming with update 4.0.
