Looks like Hogwarts Legacy DLC isn’t happening
If you were hoping for Hogwarts Legacy DLC, then Avalanche Software has some slightly disappointing news – for now, at least. Hogwarts Legacy director Alan Tew told IGN in a recent interview that the team was too busy trying to get the open-world game in a state fit for launch to give a thought to its future.
“We’ve been really heads down bringing [Hogwarts Legacy] to life,” Tew said. “So at the moment there are no current plans for DLC.”
Avalanche still needs to release Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch and last-gen consoles, so they probably won’t have much time to consider DLC until after summer 2023, if at all.
While it’s common for most open-world games to get expansions of some kind, Hogwarts Legacy’s story and even map are pretty compact on their own.
Thanks to the school year structure, there’s not much room for an expansion like, say, Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores or even what Ubisoft normally does for Assassin’s Creed. Still, it doesn’t mean Avalanche won’t do it, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
Our reviewer found the base game to be enjoyable enough on its own, with dozens of magical shenanigans to get up to in and around the castle.
