Hogwarts Legacy’s open world contains a ton of different creatures, both real and fictional, which combine to create a diverse and living environment. The interactions that can trigger when some of these elements come together can be quite spectacular, as a hilarious clip posted on Reddit by the user smogtownthrowaway shows (thanks, GamingBible).

Riding on their Thestral, they seemingly felt the urge to have solid ground under their feet again and landed close to a pen with a few sheep and a cow grazing peacefully. Being a wizard with wizard powers, the player decided they had to flip the cow into the air by using a spell – and let’s be honest, such acts of vandalism would be commonplace if we had access to such skills, so no judgment here. There is also an achievement in the game for doing this. That alone would have made for a fun clip, but what happened next takes the cake – or, you know, the cow.

As the cow dangled in the air, a dragon swooped into the picture like a giant bird of prey, grabbing the unfortunate animal in its claws and carrying it away, presumably to enjoy some roast beef for lunch. The odds of both of these actions coming together in this way are probably not very high.

We saw a dragon flying overhead once or twice ourselves while playing Hogwarts Legacy, but never witnessed it doing something like this in our own playtime. Other users shared their own dragon stories in the thread with the clip, saying they’ve seen a dragon drinking from the lake or making noise around a poacher camp before flying away. Others say that the dragon likes to sneak up on them when they’re airborne, scaring them with fly-bys. What a cheeky lizard.

Players in the thread certainly enjoyed this little action sequence. A_Couple_Things wrote: “HOLY SHIT THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!” A user named xosdr said they’d never seen something like this despite putting 130 hours into the game. Empty_Situation_3609 commented: “I saw the giant squid's tentacles coming up out of the middle of Black Lake… but I have yet to see what you just saw.”

As you’d expect from a game set in a world where magic is real there are lots of little surprises. Check out our Hogwarts Legacy guides for more information on the game and make sure to note the new release date for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, if you’re waiting on those.
