HoYoverse has another incredibly packed Honkai: Star Rail update in store for players – we’ll get a new explorable area on Herta Space Station, a brand-new game mode called Pure Fiction, the Simulated Universe: Gold and Gears expansion, a fresh Echo of War domain, tons of quality of life improvements, and more in the upcoming version 1.6. Slated for release on PC, PS5, iOS, and Android on December 27, 2023, this might as well be HoYoverse’s application for the Best Ongoing Game category at The Game Awards 2024.

There’s a lot to unpack, so here’s everything you need to know about Honkai: Star Rail update 1.6 in one handy overview.

Honkai: Star Rail update 1.6 – story

Ruan Mei is visiting Herta Space Station to conduct some biological experiments. Predictably, something goes wrong and the Trailblazer has their hands full in remedying the situation. The fact that members of the Genius Society on the station are being aggravated by Dr. Ratio, an annoying intellectual of the Intelligentsia Guild, isn’t helping.

During this Trailblaze Continuance Quest, you’ll get to explore a brand-new area of Herta Space Station, the Seclusion Zone. A boss enemy, Starcrusher Swarm King: Skaracabaz (Synthetic), will await you there. It’ll be available in a fresh Echo of War domain as well, which will drop the Past Evils of the Borehole Planet Disaster material needed to upgrade upcoming Honkai: Star Rail characters.

Honkai: Star Rail update 1.6 – game modes

Wake up, babe! A new DLC for the Simulated Universe just dropped and Madame Herta wants you to go test it out immediately! Called Gold and Gears, this expansion of the game mode is focusing on Nous, Aeon of The Erudition, which is the Aeon revered by the Genius Society. Completing the associated Adventure Mission will unlock The Erudition as an available Path for your regular Simulated Universe runs.

Pure Fiction is a brand-new game mode that will have you battle unlimited waves of foes inside a limited number of turn cycles. Clear as many waves as you can inside the time limit to increase your high score and obtain rewards such as a free copy of Lynx. This will be a permanent mode that will be periodically refreshed with new challenges, just like the Forgotten Hall.

The Gears and Gold expansion will allow you to customize your Simulated Universe runs even more / HoYoverse

Honkai: Star Rail update 1.6 – events

Critter Pick has you babysit a horde of very adorable little creatures that have been unleashed on Herta Space Station. Care for them, keep them safe, and steer their evolution to make them the most smooch-worthy critters possible. Alongside Tracks of Destiny, Stellar Jade, and XP materials, this event will allow you to obtain another textbox for your chats.

Virtual Scentventure revolves around yet another scientific experiment on Herta Space Station. It’s a battle event that will have you fight some curiously enhanced creatures… garlic-scented bosses, really? Let’s be honest, the NPCs know exactly that we’re going to do whatever they want if they dangle those Stellar Jades in front of our noses.

In addition to these events, the log-in event Gift of Odyssey will return with another ten free pulls alongside the Planar Fissure event for double Planar Ornament drops in the Simulated Universe and Realm of the Strange for double Relic drops.

Why are we controlling a cute little critter? I have no idea, but I'm all for it / HoYoverse

Make sure to check out the Honkai: Star Rail 1.6 banners as well and don’t miss out on that free Dr. Ratio in the coming version.
