Rumors around Lego 2K Goal – or “Goooal!” as the official spelling seems to go – have been around for a while, but now there seems to be substantial proof about an announcement of the soccer game in brick-form being imminent.

An eagle-eyed user of Reddit has spotted the game on the PlayStation Store under the name “Build up” and was able to get an image of the cover, which shows several Lego minifigures on the pitch, among them one looking like Lionel Messi as well as a pirate, a knight, and a furry. There’s even a flying creature in the background, which definitely points towards the game taking place somewhat outside the rules of regular soccer – not that anyone would expect the Lego game to be a serious simulation.

Not sure if a guy with a wooden leg can keep up with Messi.

The game supports single-player and multiplayer gameplay with up to four players, PS Plus being required for online play. Optional in-game purchases will be part of the title as well, as has been the case for Lego 2K Drive.

Unfortunately, the store page has already been taken down, so this seems to have been a premature reveal. At least that indicates that an official announcement of the game should be around the corner.

2K and Lego are currently in a partnership spanning several video games, of which 2023’s Lego 2K Drive was the first. The casual racing game was released for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Visual Concepts, which usually handles the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series, developed the title.

Lego 2K Goooal! has been rated by the South Korean rating board back in June 2023.
