Quan Chi will arrive in Mortal Kombat 1 as its newest DLC character on December 14, 2023, for Kombat Pack owners and one week later for everyone else. He’ll be followed by Khameleon as a brand-new DLC Kameo Fighter, who can assist you during fights with a selection of supporting moves starting at some point in January 2024. Kombat Pack owners will get Early Access to this character as well.

The newly released Quan Chi trailer teased another addition coming to the roster next year aside from those two fighters, though: Peacemaker, a figure from the DC universe, will join the fun, too. He’ll arrive in February 2024 and will be based on John Cena’s version of the character, who will portray him in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie as well as the Peacemaker series.

December 14, 2023, won’t only feature the Early Access arrival of Quan Chi, but also the start of the Season of the Cryomancer, which – you can probably guess – revolves around none other than the iconic Sub-Zero. He’ll be the newest boss in Mortal Kombat 1’s Invasions mode. This upcoming season also includes brand-new challenges and story elements. Players can earn more than 150 seasonal rewards by playing Invasions and Kombat League.

Mortal Kombat’s Ed Boon recently promised to add some highly requested feature to the game after a MK1 fan held up a sign begging for a Wi-Fi filter at a wrestling event.

During an event in Brazil, Boon additionally confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 would receive a DLC continuing the story and then “a big surprise after that.”

If you’re more into the single-player side of fighting games, then it looks like holding off on buying Mortal Kombat 1 for longer might be the right move. Mortal Kombat 11 eventually got an Ultimate Edition with all the story content in one place, which is likely going to be the case for MK1 as well. Purchasing all the DLC one by one is going to cost you more than waiting for an edition that will bring everything you want together at a more reasonable price. Of course, that’s hardly an option for players interested in the multiplayer, as getting into the game that late wouldn’t exactly be an advantage.
