WB Games has announced the re-release date for MultiVersus, which is going to return to the world stage on May 28, 2024. Initially launched in June 2022 to great success and acclaim, the free-to-play platform brawler ran out of steam a year into what WB Games retroactively dubbed a mere test, but what looked suspiciously like an actual release. Consequently, the developers decided to temporarily shut the game down in July 2023, promising a comeback in 2024 after taking into consideration all the feedback and experience gained throughout the year.

Recently, a McDonalds collaboration with the game stoked rumors that its return may be afoot, which was promptly confirmed by the game’s social media accounts, which came back to life and revealed the re-release date of the title.

Tony Huynh, MultiVersus’ game director, stated in a video update that the team has “learned a lot from the open beta” and has been “hard at work” to implement all the gathered player feedback. However, another major change made during the break is a switch to Unreal Engine 5, which is giving the game a completely fresh look compared to its older incarnation.

“We rebuilt the game from the ground up to support our new netcode,” Huynh continued. This is supposed to provide players with a consistent experience in online play across platforms. From the sounds of it, most of the characters got some reworks to their kits as well.

In terms of game modes, players can look forward to something brand-new as well: PvE. The PvE mode will come with its own way of playing and unique rewards for players to earn.

WB Games wants to unveil more information in the coming weeks. As was the case previously, MultiVersus will return to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
