2K Games yesterday announced that Kobe Bryant will decorate the covers of NBA 2K24 on both the Kobe Bryant and Black Mamba Editions, marking the deceased icon’s return onto the box art of the basketball sim.

Additional details have been revealed now, among them the return of a NBA 2K24 WNBA Edition as well as the release of a time-limited NBA 2K24 25th Anniversary Edition. This version of NBA 2K24 has a customized championship ring on the cover, while the WNBA Edition spotlights New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu. The WNBA Edition will be a GameStop exclusive in the US and Canada.

NBA 2K24 will feature a crossplay function between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, allowing players on current-gen consoles to play together. A mode called Mamba Moments celebrates the career of Kobe Bryant, recreating some of the key moments in his professional run. In addition, a new tech called ProPLAY will be implemented in the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, “that directly translates NBA footage into gameplay and delivers animations and movements via on-court NBA action for a generational leap in authenticity,” 2K promised.
