A new Deus Ex game is coming
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided famously ended on a big cliffhanger that left a bad taste in a lot of fans' mouths, but we could finally be getting some kind of resolution.
When developer Eidos Montreal was one of Square Enix's studios, the Deus Ex series appeared to be dead. The developer was instead pushed to work on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, a surprisingly brilliant action romp.
Now that Eidos Montreal has been sold off to Embracer Group, it looks like Deus Ex is back on the menu.
According to a report from Bloomberg, a new Deus Ex game is in "very, very early" development.
This comes with the news that Embracer shut down Onoma, formerly Square Enix Montreal, with some of the staff moving to Eidos Montreal.
Before Deus Ex, we're getting a new IP from the team, according to the report.
This might go some way towards explaining why the actor behind the protagonist of the previous two Deus Ex games, Elias Toufexis, hasn't yet had a call.
After being messaged about the game by dozens of fans, the actor put out a statement saying he has "zero info".
If the team is still prototyping, it's far too early to bring actors into the fold.
Of course, Eidos Montreal could instead choose to reboot the story with a new character.
However it turns out, it'll likely be a few years before we have a solid answer.
