Xbox just had its best non-holiday quarter in the company’s history, and CEO Phil Spencer says its future is looking bright. Spencer made the comments in a roundtable discussion that GLHF attended following the Xbox Games Showcase, where he said not only does Xbox have more players than ever, but that the company is on track to bring in over $1 billion in revenue in 2023 just from PC alone.

“The gaming business is reforming,” Spencer said in the discussion. “So when we think about the progress that we're making on console, we're bigger than we've been, we have more players, the business is significantly bigger. We have more creators on our platform. We're making progress in places like PC. And we really want to just create the place where players can find their next favorite game creators can find great players for them.”

Spencer credited Bethesda as the “catalyst” that helped inspire Xbox to put a greater focus on PC, thanks to the “great work” and “long history” the team has on that platform.

Spencer said that while some fans and even Xbox members who’ve followed the platform for years might think of the Xbox 360 as the company’s heyday, Xbox’s business revenue is double what it was during the 360 era.

”We’re millions of consoles ahead of where we would have been from the 360 launch to now, and we’ve never had more Xbox players than we do now, which we really think is the scorecard for us.”

Aside from Starfield on Sep. 6, 2023, Xbox also has the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Phantom Liberty coming up, and Fable planned for... eventually.
