The World of Wonders Season in Pokémon Go is starting on March 1, 2024, at 10pm local time and won’t only bring new spawns into the mobile game for the next three months – as usual, the Go Battle League benefits from a massive update accompanying the start of the season.
PvP enthusiasts can look forward to a couple of brand-new attacks, balance adjustments, and some moves becoming available on additional Pokémon.
Check below for the full patch notes of the Pokémon Go Battle League World of Wonders Update.

Go Battle League World of Wonders Update: balance changes
Balance adjustments have been made to five moves in the World of Wonders Update, so be sure to check if any of your regular competitors is affected by these changes:
- Shadow Bone: Power increased to 80 from 75.
- Brick Break: Energy Cost increased, but is now guaranteed to lower the opponent’s Defense by one stage.
- Cross Chop: Power increased to 55 from 50.
- Aqua Tail: Power increased to 55 from 50.
- Water Pulse: Power increased to 80 from 70, Energy Cost decreased.
Looks like most moves got pretty straightforward buffs this time around. Only Brick Break has some question marks attached to it, as we’ll still need to see by how much exactly the Energy Cost was increased and if that nerf has been offset by the guarantee to lower Defense.
Go Battle League World of Wonders Update: new availabilities
As is often the case, Niantic is expanding the availability of some moves to more Pokémon. This is a great way to widen your options and refresh the meta a little bit. Here’s what’s changing this season:
- Aqua Tail (Charged Attack): Goodra
- Steel Wing (Fast Attack): Empoleon
- Shadow Claw (Fast Attack): Feraligatr
- Psycho Cut (Fast Attack): Gallade
- Water Pulse (Charged Attack): Araquanid
- Brick Break (Charged Attack): Throh, Sawk, Krookodile, Crabrawler, Crabominable, Hakamo-o, Kommo-o
- Mud Shot (Fast Attack): Diglett, Dugtrio, Graveler, Golem
- Psybeam (Charged Attack): Starmie
- Draining Kiss (Charged Attack): Kirlia
- Bullet Seed (Fast Attack): Lileep
- Earthquake (Charged Attack): Gastrodon
This update makes a bunch of moves available to Pokémon that were previously locked behind events like Community Days, widely known as Legacy Moves, such as Mud Shot on Golem and Bullet Seed on Lileep. As such, the attacks aren’t technically new for these Pokémon, but finally became widely accessible for players who missed these events back in the day.
For some Pokémon, these changes are big upgrades. Feraligatr, for example, should see huge improvements in its ranking due to Shadow Claw.
