PUBG update 25.2 patch notes: Dragunov gets huge changes
PUBG: Battlegrounds 25.2 has hit the test servers and will be fully available to PC players on September 6, 2023, with console players getting their hands on the update on September 14, 2023. This patch for the battle royale shooter brings huge changes for the latest addition to the game’s weapon arsenal, the Dragunov.
The DMR, which was introduced in the 25.1 update, proved divisive in the community due to its unique probabilistic damage system. “Your participation in our recent survey allowed us to grasp your concerns regarding the probabilistic damage system and the fact that it might conflict with traditional skill-based gunplay,” the developers have stated. “Our initial goal with Dragunov was to create a different gameplay experience and to add new excitement and unique elements to the usual game flow. But as we listened to your voices, we realized that this change might disrupt the core gameplay.”
This is why the developers completely removed the probabilistic damage system from the DMR, fixing its damage to 60 points: “We've removed the probabilistic damage system, giving Dragunov a higher headshot damage compared to other DMRs. However, it still has a slower fire rate and higher recoil than other weapons in its category, giving it a more high-risk, high-reward feel. We also took into account your concerns shared in the survey and created limitations through damage thresholds ensuring that the new weapon doesn't overperform SRs in that area.”
Another balance change has been made to the AUG with a rate of fire decrease from 750 to 720 due to a rapid increase in the weapon’s win rate. Recoil – vertically and horizontally – has been adjusted as well.
Tactical Gear will be removed temporarily as the developers need to deliberate on what exactly to do about the feedback they received regarding this equipment.
In terms of map changes, Miramar’s high grounds have lost some of their edge, being reshaped a little bit to allow players on the low ground a better chance to counter any fire they are taking. The final highlights worth mentioning are that danger zones like blizzards and sandstorms are less likely to appear during a match now and that a new progressive skin type called Chroma has been added to weapons.
