Hidden in an announcement of upcoming PSVR2 games, Sony revealed that it’s currently testing PC support for the hardware and aims to make it compatible with PC this year.

“We’re pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PSVR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PSVR2 titles available through PS5,” Sony stated in the blog post. “We hope to make this support available in 2024, so stay tuned for more updates.”

The PSVR2 launched on February 22, 2023 / Sony

PSVR2 launched a year ago and seems to have gotten a bit of a slow start – a high price point coupled with a thin line-up of games (not helped by the lack of backward compatibility) wasn’t attracting many customers, especially with the PS5 itself still reeling from its supply shortage at the time. Commercially, there seems to have been little improvement in the meantime, despite the roster of available titles growing steadily.

Liberating the PSVR2 from the confines of Sony’s platform would greatly expand the available games users can enjoy with the device, making a purchase a far more enticing prospect. Plus, the hardware being compatible with PC opens up some other uses for it as well. In short: It may actually become worth the money Sony wants for it. This seems like smartest move Sony can make to give the product a bit of a push.

Aside from this important tidbit, Sony announced several new PSVR2 games, which you can find below:

  • The Wizards – Dark Times: Brotherhood (out now)
  • Arizona Sunshine 2 DLC (out now)
  • Little Cities: Bigger! (out March 12, 2024)
  • Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate (out June 27, 2024)
  • Zombie Army VR (out 2024)
  • Soul Covenant (out 2024)
