Mark Hamill is often seen as the heart and soul of Star Wars, and it’s always a pleasure to see him pop up to promote the franchise. The Luke Skywalker actor has once again made an appearance in Star Wars media… but not quite in the way you’d expect.

Despite not appearing as one of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s voice actors, Hamill has decided to get in on the fun and appeared alongside Cal Kestis voice actor Cameron Monaghan to act as a mentor to the Force.

In the trailer, we see Hamill coaching Monaghan through a series of Jedi challenges, including swinging a lightsaber, focusing while suspended upside down, Jedi mind tricks, and the time-honored Jedi tradition of… dodging popcorn while blindfolded. It’s all very silly.

Monaghan, of course, reminds Hamill that he doesn’t actually have the Force, to which BD-1 says there are no excuses. Hamill also expresses annoyance that Monaghan gets to have two lightsabers, a reference to the game’s newly-added Dual Wield stance.

The trailer ends with Monaghan turning the tables and teaching Hamill how to play Jedi: Survivor, with Hamill telling the young actor that he doesn’t need Monaghan to explain the Force to him. It’s a lot of fun to see the two interacting, despite Hamill’s (understandable) absence from the game.

Funnily enough, the Hamill we see here is much more Yoda than he is Luke, channeling the mischievousness that only a wise Jedi master can pull off.

While you might not be able to meet Luke Skywalker, you can meet Boba Fett in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The iconic bounty hunter appears for a brief cameo in the game’s bounty hunter side quests, and is sure to delight many fans following the success of the excellent The Book of Boba Fett.

As we outlined in our Star Wars Jedi: Survivor review, however, not all is well in the Star Wars universe. While Jedi: Survivor can be a lot of fun at times, it’s plagued with performance issues on PS5, even after fiddling with the console settings and choosing Performance mode.

EA has vowed to update the game multiple times in the coming weeks and months, so here’s hoping those troubles are smoothed out very quickly.
