Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PC patch fixes some issues, but stuttering remains
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched in a rough technical state earlier this week, with players on Steam slamming the game over a range of performance issues, stuttering, and inexplicable frame rate drops. Now, a new patch has been released for the game, fixing some issues, but leaving many others untouched.
EA had promised to fix Jedi: Survivor on PC, and the game’s first major patch is out now on Steam. The company says that it should help with performance on systems that aren’t using raytracing, and it seems as if it has helped somewhat.
According to Digital Foundry, the patch has improved the frame rate by about 13% overall, providing much more playable frame rates than the launch state. Unfortunately, it appears as if the stutters present in the game have remained post-patch, dropping similarly to how they did before the patch was released.
Digital Foundry says that this actually makes the stutters more pronounced than they were previously, because the base performance is higher, but the stutters drop the game to the same level as they were previously. Because there’s a much greater rift between the high end of frame rates and the big drops in performance, stutters become much more noticeable.
A patch for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is also in the works, and is set to be released sometime today, though exact timing for either platform is not yet known. That patch will fix a whole host of issues, according to EA, addressing issues like performance, crashes, rendering issues, and more bugs than you can shake a stick at.
EA says this will be the first of many patches to come, for both PC and consoles, though when those patches will arrive is anyone’s guess. Either way, it seems like solid performance is still in a galaxy far, far away.
