Bethesda’s next The Elder Scrolls game is Castles – a mobile title
Bethesda has announced The Elder Scrolls: Castles, an upcoming mobile game coming to iOS and Android. Castles is made by the team that developed 2015’s Fallout Shelter.
“In Castles, you'll build your own dynasty where every day in our world is a year in the game's world. Citizens are born, they die, rulers change, and can be betrayed,” the announcement described what the game is all about.
The Elder Scrolls: Castles is now available in the Philippines and will come to other regions of the world over the coming months. Such soft-launches are common for mobile games, as they allow the developers to gather feedback and test various systems before expanding worldwide.
Interested mobile gamers from outside the Philippines can pre-register on the App Store and Google Play to get notified whenever the title is unlocked in their country.
Limited playtests for The Elder Scrolls: Castles took place last year and revealed that the title’s gameplay is very much built on the foundation of Fallout Shelter, but obviously set in The Elder Scrolls’ medieval world as opposed to Fallout’s post-apocalyptic universe.
Players with access to the game have already been posting some screenshots and stories from their dynasties. One user’s starting queen apparently died on the first day, so they had to crown a baby as the next ruler – which sounds very authentic indeed, historically speaking. The game also features baby Argonians walking around with their legs sticking out from their egg shells, which is pretty adorable.
Core gamers, of course, are still desperately waiting for news on The Elder Scrolls 6, which has been announced to be in development eons ago, but likely had to wait for Starfield to be finished before production could go into full swing. We’ll probably see many dynasties rise and fall in the new mobile game before we hear anything concrete about TES 6.
