Creative Assembly has finally revealed the Chaos Dwarfs DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3, Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs, which will come out on April 13, 2023.

The Chaos Dwarfs, also known as the Dawi-Zharr, are a highly-anticipated faction for the British developer’s strategy game combining the sturdy stubbornness of Dwarfs, an aesthetic derived from fusing Babylonia with heavy metal, and grimdark technology using the souls of daemons – it doesn’t really get more Warhammer-y than these guys.

Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs brings three legendary lords into the game:

  • Astragoth Ironhand, High Priest of Hashut
  • Drazhoath the Ashen, Sorcerer Prophet of Hashut
  • Zhatan the Black, Commander of the Tower of Zharr

The DLC also features Gorduz Backstabber as a new legendary hero, marking the debut not only of Chaos Dwarfs, but also of Hobgoblins in the game.

Sitting right in the middle of Warhammer Fantasy’s version of the Eurasian landmass, the Chaos Dwarfs will be formidable opponents for all the factions around them, from the Empire and their Dwarf ancestors to the west to the Ogres and Cathay in the east. Aligned with the dark forces of Chaos, the Chaos Dwarfs heavily utilize Greenskin slaves in their armies and economy, making them a natural foe for the mighty Grimgor Ironhide and his Orcs.

Chaos Dwarfs will have to acquire raw materials and labor forces to feed their forges, which they can do through conquest or the new convoy system, which Creative Assembly will detail in a few weeks. The different Chaos Dwarf factions can also work together to enhance the Tower of Zharr for everyone's benefit.

Creative Assembly has teased the Chaos Dwarfs ever since Total War: Warhammer 3 came out early in 2022. Loading screen quotes, item descriptions, and social media activity hinted at their addition to the game. A teaser at the end of the Immortal Empires Launch Trailer finally delivered the official confirmation everyone had been waiting for.

This DLC will be one of three major content updates for Total War: Warhammer 3 expected to launch in 2023.
