Total War: Warhammer 3 Hotfix 4.1.1 patch notes – Bye, Greasus Lightning!
Recent Total War: Warhammer 3 Update 4.1 introduced several important and frequently asked for changes, but as is often the case with massive patches some mistakes have slipped into the new game version. In this case, an incredibly funny error led to Greasus Goldtooth having 400 speed, which led to the fattest of all Ogres being quicker than even the most mobile cavalry.
Developer Creative Assembly quickly noticed the mistake, but players still had a day of fun with the unintended speed buff for Greasus, who’s widely been dubbed Greasus Lightning due to this event. All fun comes to an end eventually, though, and for the fat and the furious Ogre that time has come now: Hotfix 4.1.1 for Total War: Warhammer 3 has slowed him down to 40 again.
This small update rectified some other issues with the large patch as well: Bloodwrack Medusae will now fire their projectiles consistently in a straight line, similar to how gunpowder units fire. An alternative firing mode, which provided arced fire for indirect targeting, has been removed after it repeatedly hit friendly units. Unfortunately, this means that the Medusae are now prone to falling victim to the line of sight issues plaguing units with straight firing modes.
Spellcasters using the Lore of Tzeentch should work normally again as well. Update 4.1 made them use The Changeling’s version of Tzeentch magic, which in turn led to the regular lords missing out on spells like Blue Flames of Tzeentch – this has been fixed.
Creative Assembly also delivered a slight correction of the patch notes for update 4.1, logging two additional changes that have been made in the new version of the game, but which weren’t mentioned in the notes:
- The Provincial Harmony system now grants escalating penalties depending on how far from harmony the province is. These mirror the bonuses granted when a particular side is strong, with slightly less punitive penalties in the first tier of disharmony.
- Replaced the effect that increases the amount of Winds of Magic gained passively with the effect that increases the army's Winds of Magic power reserve capacity across the campaign game.
The first change should make Grand Cathay’s unique system feel better and more important to engage with, while the second change will force players to once again think about their use of magic on campaign a bit more.
