Total War: Warhammer 3 – Immortal Empires Expanded mod adding Nippon now runs with Mixer
Fans were elated when the recently released Immortal Empires Expanded mod for Total War: Warhammer 3 added areas like Nippon, Ind, and Khuresh to the game’s already massive map. The only downside to this huge achievement was that the mod wasn’t compatible with one that’s commonly known as Mixer in the community – this faction unlocker, which is one of the best mods for the game, is necessary to run many of the more expansive and fancy pieces of content on the Steam Workshop. This meant that the Immortal Empires Expanded map couldn’t be used with many of the most popular mods.
The team behind Immortal Empires Expanded had already announced that it was working on a compatibility patch to make it work alongside Mixer, but fans thought this could take months due to the complexity of the project – however, it seems that the community underestimated its modders.
Immortal Empires Expanded has now been updated to work with Mixu’s Faction Unlocker, better known as Mixer, so you can run a ton of additional mods alongside it without breaking the game. It’s noteworthy that this new version isn’t just compatible with Mixu's work, but actually requires it to be able to run, making Mixer more important than ever. You can find the updated version on the Steam Workshop.
With this expanded map and the power of Mixer behind it, Immortal Empires Expanded looks more and more like a huge milestone in the long and storied history of Total War mods – it really seems like the sky's the limit for these talented individuals. At this point it wouldn’t even be a surprise if someone managed to port the Realms of Chaos from the game’s narrative campaign into Immortal Empires in addition to the new regions from Immortal Empires Expanded.
While the modding teams are doing fantastic work, Creative Assembly has not been idle: Yuan Bo, the Jade Dragon, has been confirmed to be Grand Cathay’s Legendary Lord in the upcoming Shadows of Change DLC. The short story accompanying this announcement has also revealed hints at the Legendary Lord for Tzeentch, upcoming units, and possible future DLC content.
