Creative Assembly has unveiled the Mirror of Madness game mode for Total War: Warhammer 3, which arrives on April 13, 2023, as free DLC alongside Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs. Originally announced last year in cooperation with Intel, this mode contains two different match types: The Trials of Fate and The Infinite Portal.

The Trials of Fate consist of four brutal survival battles, in which you play as a Daemon Prince of Tzeentch. Endless waves of enemies come at you, becoming stronger over time, and you must hold your ground for as long as you can. Alongside your army you’ll gain access to very powerful spells and abilities, which you can upgrade during the match, to survive the onslaught.

Hold out as long as possible to achieve a high score and – a cool surprise – unlock additional Tzeentch body parts for the Daemon Prince in the Realms of Chaos and Immortal Empires campaigns. That’s right: Daniel is getting some additional upgrades.

The Infinite Portal is a game mode that allows you to go completely mad and customize every aspect of a battle from unit sizes to blood quantity. Here’s a taste of which aspects you can tweak to your liking:

  • Unit Size
  • Damage
  • Impact Force
  • Leadership
  • Winds of Magic
  • Explosions
  • Vigor Cost Reduction
  • Reload Time
  • Ammunition
  • Projectile Penetration
  • Gravity
  • Ability Radius
  • Ability Recharge
  • Charge Duration
  • Entity Scale
  • Blood Quantity

You can probably see why Creative Assembly and Intel teamed up together on this one – crank up a few of these settings enough and your PC will beg for a swift and merciful death. The Trials of Fate may not be kind to your machine either, if you survive long enough for the screen to be filled with enemies.

Be sure to check out the best Total War: Warhammer 3 mods to keep things spiced up until Mirror of Madness arrives and find out how to get Ulrika Magdova, a legendary heroine joining the game as free DLC at the same time as the new game mode. You don't have to take any action to get access to Mirror of Madness as it will simply be added to your game.
