Players will get Nippon one way or another

The Total War: Warhammer 3 modding community has once again done the sheer impossible: A group of talented players has managed to unlock areas on the vast Immortal Empires map and even add various areas to the already massive game mode. Immortal Empires Expanded, as the mod is called, allows players to traverse the areas of Ind and Khuresh to the south of Cathay.

These regions are already present on the unmodded Immortal Empires world map, but can’t be accessed by anyone.

In addition to unlocking these lands, the modders went ahead and added the islands of Nippon – the Warhammer Fantasy version of Japan – into the ocean on the eastern coast of Cathay and Khuresh.

All in all, the mod added 58 brand-new regions and 20 provinces to the game in this way, which players can settle and conquer.

Factions of various existing races populate these areas, since the actual powerhouses that should be living in these regions – the Kingdoms of Ind, the Nagas of Khuresh, and Empire of Nippon – are not available in the game. Creative Assembly currently has no concrete plans of adding these to the game in an official capacity, though that doesn’t mean it’s impossible for them to be introduced at some point in the future. “At the moment, those areas aren’t to be used, or at least maybe not in the way people hope and think,” developer Rich Aldridge recently explained in an interview.

A full Nippon faction has come one step closer thanks to Immortal Empires Expanded :: Creative Assembly / Immortal Empires Expanded Team

Having these lands unlocked through a mod, however, opens the path for other modders to perhaps populate them with their own versions of these missing civilizations.

For now, however, you won’t be able to play Immortal Empires Expanded with many other big mods, since it’s currently incompatible with the sheer omnipresent Mixer, a fundamental mod without which many others simply don’t work. The creators of Immortal Empires Expanded are already working on a compatible version, though.

You can find Immortal Empires Expanded on the Steam Workshop and you’ll find the best Total War: Warhammer 3 mods to go along with it in our linked list.
