Season 2 for Call of Duty Warzone 2 was originally scheduled to already be live today, but had to be delayed for two weeks. While it’s merely a little comfort compared to actually exploring all the new content the update is promising, the developers at least showed off Ashika Island, the battle royale game’s upcoming map.

Ashika Island won’t replace Warzone 2’s main map, Al Mazrah, but will be the new home for the returning Resurgence mode. This is a more intimate version of the usual battle royale gameplay with enabled respawns, which had found great popularity in the original Warzone.

The new battleground is also planned to be featured in Warzone 2’s DMZ mode as a new infiltration option.

The island’s most poignant feature is an old castle in the Japanese style containing walls, a moat, several buildings, a garden, a museum, and – something the original builders likely had not envisioned – a submarine base carved into the caves under the main grounds.

Ashika Island also houses a town, which contains Town Center and Residential as points of interest, and an agricultural sector dubbed Ōganikku Farms. The Beach Club point of interest contains several tourist attractions, while the island’s southwestern edge is dominated by a sizable port facility. The eastern shore features Shipwreck, which technically consists of two vessels that have round aground.

Resurgence mode’s comeback, Ashika Island, new weapons, ranked play, and more will arrive in Warzone 2 Season 2 on February 15, 2023.
