The Witcher 3's next-gen update is coming in December
Publisher CD Projekt Red has just announced the release date for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's next-gen update, and it is coming on December 14, 2022.
The release date was revealed in a tweet, delivering on the publisher's previous promise to bring the update by the end of 2022.
Witcher 3's next-gen version will be free to anyone who already owns the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
Next-gen features include ray tracing, improved loading times, and a number of other visual and tech enhancements. The update will also bring new content inspired by the Witcher Netflix series, details of which will be revealed during a dedicated REDstreams event on Twitch next week.
PC owners will also receive the free perks, which tap into modern hardware's power.
Some of the enhancements and the new Netflix Witcher-inspired content are also coming to last-gen consoles, including the Nintendo Switch, with a separate update at a later date, to be announced soon.
This next-gen version of the acclaimed game will also be available as a digital purchase on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and will be the Complete Edition, with all DLC and the two major expansions – Hearts of Stone, and Blood and Wine – included.
A physical release of the updated Witcher 3 is also planned after the initial digital-only launch. The release date for this is yet to be announced.
