As revealed on 2K’s social media today, WWE 2K24 is releasing on March 8, 2024, and Cody Rhodes is the cover star of the standard edition.

This comes after a week of teases, with filmed vignettes of WWE wrestlers and other sports personalities speculating on who they think the cover star will be, and a few cryptic messages of new match types that are in store on this year's game.

Cody Rhodes is most certainly a deserving star for the cover of this year’s game. After leaving WWE in 2014, he made a huge name for himself in promotions like NJPW and was one of the founding members of AEW in 2019, a company that is still going strong today. His 2022 return to WWE was a huge deal, and he’s been a fan favorite ever since.

Rhodes was in the main event of WrestleMania in 2023 and may be doing it twice in a row, as he’s one of the frontrunners for this year’s Royal Rumble on Saturday. This year’s pre-order bonus pack is also centered around him. The Nightmare Family Pack, named after Rhodes’ “American Nightmare” nickname contains four playable characters including “Undashing” Cody Rhodes, Stardust, Cody’s father Dusty Rhodes, and one of Dusty’s biggest rivals, “Superstar” Billy Graham.

He isn’t the only cover star this year though, as the deluxe edition of the game features two of the most popular and prominent women’s wrestlers of the past few years, Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair.

Ripley has spent almost all of the past year as the Women’s World Champion after winning it from Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania and has been a major player in both the men’s and women’s divisions as a member of The Judgement Day faction. Belair meanwhile had a year-long title reign that ended in the first half of 2023, and despite not having gold around her waist, has remained as popular as ever this year.

Finally, the “40 Years of WrestleMania” special edition cover features legendary wrestlers from the past and present including Andre the Giant, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, The Rock, John Cena, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, and Roman Reigns.

WWE 2K24 launches on March 8, 2024, for PC, PS5, PS4 Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, with deluxe edition owners getting three days early access.
